Macomb Community College has been honored by The Center for Digital Education and Converge magazine as one of the nation’s most “Digitally Savvy Community Colleges.” This is the third straight time Macomb has been included among the top 10 large community colleges in the nation in the survey.

“The 2008 survey focused on services, programs, capability and the integration of technology by faculty in contrast to the past themes of Œequipment and systems,’” said Michael Zimmerman, chief information officer, and director of communications and information technology at Macomb. “Macomb’s capture of the award under these new, more stringent evaluation criteria provides further evidence that the investment Macomb County residents have made in our institution is returning results.”
The survey examined areas of technology ranging from online admissions, student access to transcripts and grades, information security and infrastructure, to weather and campus security alerts, and online library capabilities.
“Our revised 2008 digital community college survey showcases the best utilization of digital technology,” said Marina Leight, vice president of the Center for Digital Education. “Community colleges continue to be the place to look for innovation.”
In addition to Macomb, one other Michigan community college was honored by the Center. Kirtland Community College in Roscommon placed in the top 10 among small colleges.
